Before I started my career with Vodafone I had roles in other customer facing and customer focused sectors, I have held a few positions within contact centres environments but these roles never really kept me engaged. Due to this I was always looking for a company I could really build a career for myself and that why I applied for a role in Vodafone Retail.
I have now worked in Vodafone Retail for just over 4 years and I have enjoyed every minute of my time here. I started my career as a Retail Sales Adviser in a relatively small but fast paced store and as I had never held a sales position before it was a fantastic environment to learn the job and how I could really make it my own.
From that point on I have been driven to excel as much as possible in any and all opportunities that were presented to me. As a result, I have been a Sales Adviser in a variety of stores from our smaller branches to the large and busier Elite stores. I always strive to progress in my career, and one of the great things about Vodafone is that if you want to develop and you work hard, then the chance to advance your career is there. I progressed from a Sales Adviser to an Assistant Store Manager after a few years and this was all down to the environment I worked in and the people I worked with. I was always pushed to be better and to achieve more from my Line Manager, and I can honestly say I wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and motivation I received from my teams and management during my time in store.
My current position is a Store Support Specialist in Retail HQ; I am part of a smaller team than most retail stores as there is only about 6 of us. My job role involves building relationships with many different departments and really getting involved with making things better for the staff we have working in stores. The experience I gained through my time in retail is invaluable in helping me make decisions on how best to support our retail stores, and implement change in a way that it has a positive impact. My job can be fast paced at times and being able to multi-task and prioritise my workload is important but I wouldn’t change it. I really enjoy working as part of Vodafone retail because no two days are the same, I have such variety in my job and when you couple that with a fast paced and ever changing industry you can’t help but stay engaged and become excited for what’s coming next.
My career with Vodafone has been such a big part of developing who I am as person today, building relationships with customers and employees forms such a big part of every position I have held. You can’t help but learn from every interaction and use these experiences to help shape your approach to similar situations and your decision making process going forward. My future with Vodafone is exciting because you never know what is round the corner but all I know is that I will be part of it!
What advice would I give you if you are looking to start a career in Vodafone Retail? Do it, Take the opportunity and run with it. Working here has shown me that if you are willing to work hard and stay driven, then you will have some fantastic opportunities presented to you.
