"The scheme is a great way to kick-start your career and meet like minded people"

My journey so far:

I chose to apply for the Vodafone Discover Graduate Programme because I was looking for a chance to explore a variety of Technology functions and to get a well-rounded experience. I’ve been at Vodafone for just over a year and I have already worked in four different teams in four different parts of the business. It’s great to have such exposure so early on in your career, as you can listen to different stories and explore various career paths to discover what lights the spark in you.

To date I have worked in:
•Retail: Serving customers and learning the ropes.
•Assurance: Reviewing ISO/SOx controls and assuring their effectiveness.
•IT & Device Security: Organising penetration testing of the IT estate.
•Service Transition: Bringing the Agile framework to Technology Operations and helping with the convergence of the Fixed and Mobile transition teams.
•TalkMobile L2 Support: Solving escalations and performing root cause analysis.

Why Vodafone is different:

Personal Development: Leaving the warm and forgiving university environment and moving to the corporate world can be a challenging transition. Suddenly your routine changes, you need to adapt to new managers, you have to satisfy new requirements and you can end up feeling lost. Thankfully here at Vodafone there is plenty of support available, be it from an ex-grad, your mentor, or any of the other new faces that you’ve met here. It’s easy to find interesting people on campus and 9 times out of 10 they’ll be thrilled to share their experience and spend some time with a buzzing grad with fresh thinking.

Professional Development: Another great aspect about working in Vodafone is the support available for those looking to pursue professional qualifications or get involved in new and exciting projects that require training. From year one, depending on your interests, you can obtain PRINCE2, ITIL, CCNA, or VCP, among others. Having these qualifications is a huge benefit when you are looking to specialise. This, combined with your work experience will give you an edge for when you apply for a full time position after the scheme.
