ReConnect Manchester Event - 9th November

On 9th November 2017, Northern Power Women and Vodafone will be hosting an event to support women thinking of returning to work after a career break. We want to ensure that businesses don’t let talented people and future leaders slip through their fingers.

As part of its ReConnect programme, Vodafone is working with Northern Power Women to host the ReConnect Manchester Event to offer opportunities and support to women wishing to return to work.

Date: Thursday 9th November 2017
Time: 1pm until 7pm

Location: Vodafone Pacific House, Atlas Business Park, Wythenshawe, Manchester, M22 5PR

The ReConnect event will consist of a careers fair where a variety of employers will be exhibiting their vacancies, careers skills workshops, a panel discussion and information on child care. There will be a range of full-time and part-time, executive and frontline positions available, and attendees will be able to talk with employees about specific roles and their companies in general.

The Vodafone ReConnect programme is designed to attract talented women who have left the workplace (in most cases to raise a family) who would like to return to work on a full-time or flexible basis but are struggling to make the professional connections needed or refresh the skills required.

Vodafone is committed to increasing the proportion of women in management and leadership roles. Under the ReConnect programme, up to 500 women on career breaks globally will be recruited into management roles worldwide over the next three years. In addition, Vodafone will recruit up to 500 women worldwide who are on career breaks into a range of frontline roles.

Sophie Rice is one woman who has already benefitted from the programme. After taking nearly four years away from the finance profession to raise her family, Sophie joined Vodafone as a Country Support and Adoption Lead within the Vodafone Integrated Planning Team.

Sophie said: “When I saw the role at Vodafone and their ReConnect programme, I took the opportunity, for us as a family, to switch roles. My husband has taken a step back and now looks after our daughter. It has been a lovely opportunity for us. On my first day, I was quite nervous and unsure about how it was going to pan out, but we had a nice beginning where my husband took a picture of our daughter and me. That is a really proud moment for me.” Prior to Vodafone, Sophie had seven years finance experience.
