I’ve been working at Vodafone for two years, based in Newbury. The working environment here can be described as positive, engaging, collaborative and enjoyable. At times it can be challenging and that’s what makes it so interesting to me. It’s rewarding to see my team grow, mature and succeed during their time at Vodafone, and I’m dedicated to supporting them in any way I can.
I am currently an ambassador for Women in Technology. This is important to me because it allows me to educate, coach and share the benefit of my career with others who may be breaking into their career, or those who need more guidance in the area. By doing this, I feel as though I’m really giving something back and spreading my knowledge throughout the wider technology community.
I believe it’s important to encourage confident and empowered women and to showcase their strengths within the workplace. When it comes to STEM, women can often be under represented and that’s why things like the Women in Technology organisation exists. If someone has the right skills and attitude needed for a job, they shouldn’t be brushed to one side just because of their gender. Vodafone fully embraces this mentality and I’m proud to work alongside a diverse and dedicated team.
To be successful at Vodafone it’s important to be resilient, focused, and have the right attitude. If you have that attitude, you can drive the right behaviour, and then you can train and coach the right technique that will further your own career as well as inspiring others to do the same. People shouldn’t be afraid to channel their own strengths and put themselves forward, and I think Vodafone really embraces that when it comes to their own people.
The mobile industry is exciting and fast moving, and that’s what I love most about my job. The people here are brilliant and all demonstrate the right mindsets to really succeed at the company. I couldn’t ask for a better group of people, who continue to impress me with their progress and their willingness to improve and better themselves in the workplace.
