The Role 

 

Vodafone Business has invested heavily in its connectivity solutions over recent years, none more so than SDWAN, being recognised for the second year running as a leader in Gartner’s magic quadrant.

 

The successful candidate will contribute towards the technology vision for how Vodafone’s enterprise connectivity products and components shall evolve over the next 1-3 years to deliver world class customer products.  He or she will work on the evolution of selected topics, turning these topics from high-level ideas and concepts, into scoped, documented and structured activities which can be mobilised and subsequently handed over to the delivery function. Including competitive market assessment, high-level vendor solution comparison, potential development timeline, targeted proof of concepts, business case framework, etc.

 

The successful candidate will have a proven ability to look beyond pure technology detail. Demonstrating an ability to position complex emerging technologies in terms of both Vodafone business benefit and its ability to solve customer problems. With an ability to position complex technology with senior stakeholders.

 

The role is highly interactive and requires the ability to work with other internal departments, and the wider Vendor community, as part of a virtual team. Leveraging existing technology knowledge and experience within Vodafone, along with Vendor Partnerships to deliver a suitable output.

 

The Product Architect shall have significant experience as a Network and Solution Architect. With a good understanding of established network technologies include IP/MPLS, Security, Ethernet/OTN/DWDM, LAN/WiFi and Datacentre. The Product Architect shall also have a good and current understanding of the SD-WAN and NFV market. Equally as relevant, the Product Architect will have experience of Systems and Tools to enable network technologies to be operated, managed and sold at a Service Provider scale. A good understanding of modern Platform oriented architecture and all relevant technologies is also required 
 

With us, you will:

  • Write white papers, reference solutions, PoC plans, product evaluations, validated designs.
  • Build detailed collateral to describe and scope out the agreed prioritised Target Architecture topics.
  • Build Vodafone and Vendor contacts to leverage existing experiences to quickly get up to speed on a range of technologies
  • Consult with customers to help them drive the best value from SD-connectivity product and services
  • Act as SME in the definition of appropriate requirements, interfaces, roles and flows across multiple layer of a modern Tech-Telco stack
  • Support overall product strategy for Connectivity services and UCC as part of system architecture & integration 
  • Work with Vodafone Product Management, Line of Business and trusted vendors and select customers to develop technical solutions to business problems, in-line with the Vodafone Business strategy.
  • Maintain a current comparison between vendors in the relevant technology theatres.

  • Strong influencing, organisational & communication skills (both written and spoken).
  • Experience in working in virtual and multinational teams, with proven record of delivering goals in matrix organisations
  • Ability to understand and communicate strategic issues to senior stakeholders
  •  Ability to master complex problems and summarise them in simple terms, based on target audience
  • Ability to work pro-actively on a day-to-day basis with minimum guidance on ad-hoc requirements
  • Manage multiple & changing priorities and follow-up until delivered. 
  • Ability to express and communicate clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must have core expertise in a good number of topics on network and IT infrastructures enabling Systems and Tools applicable to the SDN and NFV market:
  • Core expertise in a good number of topics on established network technologies to enable the development of the Systems & Tools layered on top of these components IP Networking (WAN & LAN), Security solutions (Firewall, IDS/IPS, URL filtering, AV, DDOS, CASB, etc.), Datacenter, LAN and WiFi, Public Clouds, Transport SDN, SD-WAN & NFV, Mobility and Mobile Data Services
