Our Software Developer Level 4 Apprenticeship combines online learning, classroom training and on-the-job experience to develop advanced skills in software development.  

This apprenticeship a good fit for you if you’re already in a software development role looking to take a step up or if you have entry-level experience in software development.  

The programme is a great opportunity to enhance your digital skills, ensuring you have the technical grounding needed to become a skilled website builder, developer or software designer.  

On successful completion of the programme, you will gain the following qualifications:


•Software Developer Level 4

•BCS Systems Development Essentials




The Software Developer will build and test simple, high-quality code across front end, logic and database layers. A developer will typically be working as part of a larger team; in which they will have responsibility for different elements of an overall project.  

You will:


•Coordinate with the Technical Architect on current programming tasks.

•Collaborate with other programmers to design and implement features.

•Quickly produce well-organized, optimized, and documented source code.

•Create and document software tools required by artists or other developers.

•Debug existing source code and polish feature sets.

•Contribute to technical design documentation.

•Map code to Customer journeys.


What you will need

•Have achieved a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade C or above (including Maths and English Language)

•Have completed your Level 3 studies (A-levels, BTEC Level 3 or Level 3 Apprenticeship) by September 2018

•Ideally a Level 3 qualification in an IT-related subject

•Be eligible to work in the UK and will not be in full-time education by September 2018

•Have lived in the UK and/or EU for 3 years prior to September 2018
