Job title: Senior Commercial Manager – Regional & Indirect  

Location: Newbury

Your role:

The role has manages all Commercial pre-sales activity for the Regional and Indirect (Parterns) business.  This is a senior leadership role with a sizeable influence on specific work area or sub-function, in terms of:
  • Strategic influence on the specific work area / part of a function

  • Business change management of the functional area

  • Senior Interactions with other teams with work areas

  • Other teams rely on this Senior Manager’s performance and influence

The role plans and controls resources required for delivery of Regional and Indirect performance.

The role addresses issues with impact beyond own team, based on knowledge of related disciplines.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Manage a team of Commercial Managers, Specialists & Analysts responsible for sound commercial decisions in line with governance thresholds for Regional & Indirect business.

  • Set up, maintain a forum for business analysis of real-time deals, price points and general trends for won, and lost business that allows the EBU to continually monitor its strategic direction.

  • Set up, lead and run a series of digital improvements to the function; utilising best in class products to change.

  • Be chairperson for bid and tender reviews, ensuring all governance and SOX requirements are met.


Core competencies

  • Commercial awareness and industry knowledge in order to contribute to wider objectives of the Commercial function.

  • Sound principles of cost and pricing strategies

  • Strong communication skills to guide influence and convince others (including customers / third parties). Some external communication is required; however, it is not the primary focus of the role.

  • Competent to communicate to GMT level (internal) and C-suite (external).

  • Can apply judgement based on analysis of factual and qualitative information in complicated or new situations.
