Project (NPD) Governance Manager

Location: Newbury – Vodafone HQ

 
 
Role purpose:

This role is part of the Investment Governance team within Vodafone Business Finance, which is accountable for running and assuring the New Product Development (NPD) governance process across Vodafone Business and group enterprise technology.
At a detail level, this includes assuring submissions in to the associated boards, working alongside the PRB (Project Review Board) Assurance role to ensure delivery group submissions are correct and working collaboratively with the existing governance manager to ensure all boards run efficiently.

The role will have 3 key focus areas which are: Run the board, Assure the board, Support PRB Assurance

 

The Governance Manager will also become the focal point within the organization for project governance processes by providing training, managing the project lifecycle and participate in project shaping meetings as well as future process improvements.

 
Key accountabilities and decision ownership
  • Efficient Governance and Resource Management board organization.
  • Accountable for the logistics and organization of all aspects of the review boards.

  • Work with key stakeholders to ensure the timeliness and quality of submission to the board reviews.

  • Work with Finance to ensure portfolios are working within Capex and Opex budgets.

  • Track the progress of delivery against forecast dates, monitor root causes for any delays and recommend subsequent delivery optimisation.

  • Hold regular reviews with Portfolio stakeholders and Group functions to ensure alignment of assurance and delivery processes and overall operational performance.

  • Own and manage ongoing improvement process for delivery templates, governance SharePoint.

  • Provide regular data and analysis on delivery forecasts, roadmap reports, RAID logs and project trackers 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience: 
  • Ideally 3 or more years project support experience within a multi-national environment (Telco or Digital Tech)

  • Excellent skills in MS Project, Excel, Word and PowerPoint with strong overall Project & Program lifecycle knowledge.

  • High level of Stakeholder Management skills over all levels (Dir and CEO) includes excellent interpersonal skills -written and vocal communication skills.

  • Good operational knowledge of the Product lifecycle from planning through build to operate.

  • Excellent data handling and presentation skills and experience of working with projects that span multi-disciplinary areas covering at the minimum product development.

  • Prince II or MSP certification.

  • Strong ability to investigate project deliverables and have the experience to know when something fundamental is missing or not correct.

  • Working knowledge of specific project and programme management tools

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
