Role purpose:

To provide expert technical services in the field of satellite communications to Vodafone, including oversight of 3rd party contractors performing turnkey work whether in the UK or as 3rd party field service providers overseas. Includes the design, project management and implementation of a wide variety of complex satellite earth station and VSAT projects world-wide.


Planning and design of earth station systems and VSAT networks. Prepare business cases, costings, plans, specifications and tender evaluations.

Technical negotiations with suppliers, testing, installation, commissioning of earth station systems, monitor and prepare progress reports.

Maintain working knowledge of international standards in satellite networks, data communications, internet and communications regulation.

To manage new services and “in life” satellite capacity portfolio activity, including: transmission plan processing, capacity leases management with satellite operators,  Processing contracts through the Legal Dept. and Procurement (particularly VPC).

Apply if you have:
  • Experience in leadership roles in multi-disciplinary project teams for satellite stations
  • At least two years involvement in acceptance testing satellite earth stations and VSAT networks and commissioning services through them.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams including customer and service management areas
  • Ability to lead staff and providing OTJ training to others as required.

We’re happy if you:

  • UK BSc or BEng Honours degree , or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications  or other related Engineering or science discipline
  • Full Member of the IET and Member of the Engineering Council.
  • UK security clearance to at least SC
