The Terminal Product Manager takes ownership over product definition, product development and delivery of customised Terminals, mobile devices or online services targeted at the global market on-time, to budget, quality and compliant to specification (especially health & safety). The Product Manager will be responsible for end to end management of Fintech projects to achieve project and product objectives

  • Device product development of customized mobile devices from a tier 1 device vendor for Vodafone Operating Countries and Partner Markets delivered in time and quality.
  • Ensure adherence to Vodafone Device requirements, lifecycle management and Quality Control including health & safety and antenna/RF-performance of mobile devices.
  • Ensure rollout plan and delivery of all Vodafone services according to defined Vodafone Device Customization and in line with the services teams in Products & Services
  • Manage the device vendor relationship for a tier 1 mobile device vendor.
  • Ensure close link with Vodafone Operating Countries and Partner Markets in respect to product delivery, scope, quality, timelines and approval.
  • Manage Devices and Service KPIs for key tier 1 device vendor.
With us you will do the following:
  • You will be accountable for end-to-end product development related to the delivery of mobile devices in scope of the global Products & Services organisation.
  • Lead cross-functional platform and product development mobile device products in an international context. Matrix management of the device vendor and internal stakeholders such as commercial, portfolio, user experience, technology managers as well as the counterparts in the Operating Companies.
  • Pro-actively manage device vendor in complying to Vodafone & OEM processes and standards and manage business essential developments from our mobile vendor within the Vodafone organisation
  • Support commercial, technical and management meetings, providing expert knowledge on platform, products and OEM, as well as risk assessment and identifying areas of innovation.
  • Identify and analyse potential trade-off requirements during feasibility and implementation phase and make decisions balancing delivery time, cost and quality and user experience.
  • Ensure support and best possible implementation and delivery of Vodafone services customization across geographies for your OEM.
  • Actively support the Vodafone Device Requirements creation process by identifying and communicating necessary changes as well as opportunities and innovations.
  • Manage the lifecycle management of device products by managing respective maintenance releases.
  • Provide up-to-date device vendor briefing documents for key meetings incl. CEO, MWC, etc.

Project Management

  • Assure milestones are managed in all device projects for the assigned OEM
  • Understand product development, process on the manufacturer side.
  • Perform risk and issue management. Identify, track, manage, report and resolve project issues/risks (e.g. conflicts between project deliverables and resources/timelines).
  • Own the Project Definition and Project Plan, ensuring work streams are effectively planned, resourced and able to deliver objectives.
  • Manage the development and product and Terminal acceptance of the device with the Operating Companies and Partner Markets. Coordinate all activities with the vendor, CTC and distributed testing companies.
  • Ensure project transparency
  • Agree, communicate and ensure consistency to the Terminals Delivery Process
  • Establish and constantly improved project/product management tools
  • Report project and overall vendors status and escalate issues to vendors and internally
  • Generate and present project status reports to relevant parties
  • Provide executive reporting and briefings on selected projects

Supplier / Vendor management

  • Pro-actively manage operational, product development, product management and technology aspects of the supplier relationship with vendors for all mobile devices in scope of the Products & Services organisation.
  • Manage business essential developments from our mobile vendors within the respective Vodafone organisation
  • Hold regular Program reviews covering: product roadmap, project status update, technology and platform roadmap, key time to market initiatives, Supplier strategy and Supplier Relationship programme activities.
  • Ensure proper key vendor status reports, including cross-project activities be shared to appropriate stakeholders within the organisation
  • Escalate functionally related issues with the relevant counterparts on the supplier side and Vodafone side to achieve Vodafone terminal objectives

Product Quality Management

  • Responsible for achieving a maximum standard of the mobile product to the relevant specification including software, customization, user interface and product documentation.
  • Insure that the final product fits the proposition slot the terminal is targeted for, and focus on the NPS score of the end customer.
  • Escalate instances of product non-compliance to specification and identify necessary remedial action.
  • Identify improvement areas and develop and negotiate countermeasures and action plans with the suppliers.

Business management and other activities

  • Manage business essential developments from our mobile vendors within the respective Vodafone organisation
  • Assure effectiveness and efficiency of the organisation by cross functional project resource allocation in the wider mobile product development team
  • Contribute to knowledge sharing within the team
  • Contribute to process definition (delivery process, ODM process, emerging markets process etc)
  • Identify best practices for Products & Services and disseminate to organisation and Vodafone companies
  • Cross-functional program management of Vodafone initiatives for vendor engagement and other service related activities.
  • Management the relationship with Mobile Product Management and device functions in the operating companies, identifying customer needs and appropriate solutions

Apply if you have:
  • Excellent technical background in mobile and Internet technologies

  • University degree or equivalent desirable
  • Extensive Knowledge of Terminal products (software/hardware) & product development
  • Project management methodologies and processes, progress reporting, risk management, project management tools, project planning and control techniques
  • International experience and background in a complex multi business, multi-cultural matrix environment is essential.
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills
  • A self-starter with high levels of self-motivation, energy and initiative.
