Role purpose:


To deliver Vodafone Radio Access Networks (RAN) infrastructure and functionality meeting our strategic and operational needs, driving products from concept to deployable solution. This work requires close engagement with and responsibility for RAN vendors, managing the Technical relationship through requirements specification, roadmap management, benchmarking and supporting commercial RFQ´s activity with technical assessments.


Primary areas of responsibility will include, but not limited to, virtualised RAN platforms (vRAN) and associated Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), as well as Small Cell and In-building solutions. These responsibilities require engagement at all levels of the vendor eco-system as we look to leverage innovation and technology leadership to drive differentiating and cost efficient solutions in to our markets



With us you will:

  • Support the development and planned introduction of OpenRAN (vRAN) platforms in to Vodafone markets gathering and defining requirements from across the Group, engaging with vendors and the associated eco-system to deliver cost effective implementations. Support engagement with industry forums such as Facebook’s Telecom Infra Project, and Group Standards to ensure Vodafone requirements are captured and strategic direction secured.

     

  • Responsibility for Small cell and In-building solutions towards Product Vendors, Group Networks Engineering and our Markets ensuring roadmaps are maintained and solutions meet our Operational requirements in all radio technologies, and including all aspects of life-cycle management

     

  • Development of other innovative RAN Products, actively identify and promote innovative ideas, vendors and solutions. Drive development programs from concept to commercial solutions. This involves the full product development cycle from design, to pilot, commercialisation and Operational integration including validation of business cases and associated Global market demands.

     

  • Lead Business as Usual Technical relationship with Strategic Radio vendors in areas of product responsibility, Benchmarking, Roadmap and performance management, across the vendor base, Support or lead RFQ based technical assessments. Work with established vendors and also new entrants.

  • Contribute to, define and deliver 3 Year Radio Product Roadmap and Vodafone Specification in line with Vodafone Technology Strategy.


Apply if you have:

  • Desirable >5 years of relevant experience in a mobile operator environment in the fields of 2G/3G/4G/5G Radio Access Networks

  • Radio experience in a Market or Group in Product Management, Planning or Strategy teams.

  • Proven track record for successful delivery of new technologies and products including commercial aspects.

  • Experience in leading international programs

  • Excellent analytical skills (listening, questioning, challenging etc.)

  • Excellent communication skills – able to understand and interact in both business and technical languages

  • Project management and Finance skills

  • Technical expertise in Mobile Access technologies and standards incl. 2G/3G/4G/5G, Antennas, Repeaters, and Site Infrastructure.

  • Expertise in Small Cells and Inbuilding Solutions

  • Experience in virtualised RAN platforms, vRAN, Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), and associated HW and SW architectures and platforms

  • Experience in delivering RFI/RFP/RFQ management and evaluation.

  • Project management and Finance skills

  • University degree in Engineering
