Vodafone have recently gone into partnership with Google and are implementing Google Cloud Platform "GCP" across our global business this is a very exciting time for the company and we are looking for  a talented DevOps Engineer to join us on this journey. You will be joining our  team in London, bringing with you a broad range of experiences and a passion for cloud technologies and practices and experience of working with GCP. As a DevOps Engineer you'll be responsible for providing our teams with the necessary platforms and tools to power our Big Data Cloud Analytics Platform.

Here within the Big Data team, we're leading the way across Vodafone in transforming the way we deliver our Analytics platforms.  Our DevOps Engineers are key players in that transformation, ensuring our strategy isn't just a great aspiration for the way we work, but that it's genuinely driving the behaviours and practices of our teams in everything they do.

You'll be responsible for
  • Defining and maintaining our environment strategy.
  • Ensuring the availability, performance and readiness of our test and pre-production environments to support our release aspirations

  • Maintain and enhance our environment monitoring, ensuring we can provide a real time view on availability and performance.

  • Collaborating with our Engineering and Architecture teams to ensure we are driving the right environment strategy.

  • Develop, own and maintain our environment build automation process.

  • Own, track and provide regular updates on all environment issues through to resolution.

Things we consider critical to the role:

  • An in-depth understanding of modern software engineering/testing practice, tools and techniques.

  • An in-depth understanding of cloud architecture, environment build and networking

  • You're passionate about simplification and automation, continually looking to improve upon existing processes and procedures to drive efficiencies within the environments.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with Application, Quality and Architecture teams to identify the right environment strategy to achieve our joint goal of Continuous Delivery and Automation.

  • Experience influencing multidiscipline technology teams across multiple locations.

  • Your personal quality bar is high; you guide others around you to meet those standards

  • You uphold the principles of DevOps and work constructively to plug gaps where traditional role-orientated silos exist.

Things we'd rate you even higher for:
  • Experience in building and maintaining complex GCP Environments, with server less technologies.

  • Experience in cloud environment and network architecture.
  • Experience with Big Data Tech such as the Hadoop Ecosystem
  • Experience within the telecoms sector.
  • Experience of CI/CD technologies & tools, including Chef, Docker, EC2, Jenkins, Puppet, etc.

  • Experience of cloud based platforms & tools: Azure, AWS,  GCP, Github, VSTS, JIRA, etc.

  • Keeping up with and using the latest technology, cloud, and tools is something you make the time to do outside of work
