Engineering Specialist – Milton Keynes area

About the role

As the sole representative of Vodafone on a customer campus, you will be responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of all aspects of customers’ network infrastructure, backed by the Network Operations team in Manchester. You will also work with project teams as a field engineer to deliver network changes across our customers’ global branch office networks.

Your focus will be to restore service to end users on site as quickly as possible, by accurately diagnosing network and service faults, communicating directly with suppliers and customers on site and minimising delays due to handoffs with internal and external suppliers.

Core day to day activities include liaising directly with end users, diagnosing and resolving faults, investigating recurring issues and preventing future incidents, planning and implementing changes, along with offering technical advice and assistance as needed. 

Key Skills and Experience:
  • DV clearance or eligibility is essential
  • Able to demonstrate good working knowledge of IP and data networking
  • Experience in diagnosing and resolving faults at physical and logical network layers
  • VSAT deployment and maintenance experience
  • CCNA or equivalent is essential, CCNP would be a benefit
  • Previous experience of working in a real time network operation to service level agreements
  • Able to travel frequently, internationally and domestically, often at short notice
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended periods on call and work outside normal hours
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
