Data Insight Manager – Commercial Operations

Location: Newbury

Role Profile:


Group Enterprise Operations (GEO) provide customer and technical support globally to Vodafone’s Enterprise customers. Group Enterprise Operations manage the full product portfolio across mobility, fixed line services and unified communications.


As a Data Insight Manager within Commercial Operations, you will contribute to the success of the Vodafone Group Enterprise Commercial & Operations functions and VGE Sales by utilising their advanced data analysis skills to understand business dynamics through the customer lifecycle and delivering targeted and actionable data driven insight. 

This role requires someone will be tenacious in interrogating data to understand the drivers and someone who can be creative in suggesting how Sales and Commercial activity as well as commercial propositions could and should be shaped to achieve desired outcomes. This may include; resign erosion reduction, reduced churn, improved profitability etc.  He or she works effectively with colleagues across functions and geographies to ensure that delivery teams are able to provide the best possible customer experience and commercial returns.

The Manager – CO&In will develop and use objective measures to assess the performance of initiatives in order to ensure that success is leveraged and that lessons are learned from those that did not deliver the desired impact/outcome. 


Key Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver the agreed level of insight initiatives to support key VGE Marketing and Commercial priorities including CVM campaigns and strategic planning support

  • Deliver the agreed # of account landscape views and deep-dive account packs in support of the VGE Sales organisation

  • Generate actionable insights based on complex data analysis; build statistical models to support and accelerate business transformation and optimise commercial strategy.

  • Identify and action value maximisation opportunities through the customer facing teams and track the implementation.

You will be:
  • Experience in business and data analytics preferably focused on customer insight, statistical modelling, data science or similar in Telecommunication industry or B2B environment. 

  • Basic understanding of financial concepts (revenue, contribution margin, EBITDA etc) and comfortable working in a commercial environment

  • Problem solving and analytical mind-set; able to translate a business question into concrete analysis by interrogating large volumes of data; Comfortable working in fast-paced and often ambiguous environment

  • Excellent data interpretation skills and ability to communicate and present complex analysis/recommendations with clarity.


You will have:

  • Strong analytical skills.  Experience of working with large data sets to provide short and long term recommendations based on insights and trends.

  • Commercial acumen, ability to take highly innovative, creative approach to commercial modelling to support business strategy and investments.

  • Experience of telecoms operations; Familiar with telecoms products and industry trends.
