Core Mobile IN Support Engineer
Location – Newbury 

What’s the role?

As an Operations Support Engineer you will be situated within the exciting Technology HUB based in Newbury, providing technical support, operation and maintenance of our Intelligent Networking and Real Time Rating and Charging domains within Technology Operations. You will be providing Tier2 support on Applications built on the Nokia MCAS and ATCA hardware as well as new services as we evolve towards network virtualisation. 

What will you be doing?

Resolve incidents with minimum downtime 
Carry out change to a high standard, out of hours if necessary, and partake in a 24 x7 standby rota.
Maintain domain infrastructure throughout its lifecycle in order to ensure services are delivered at the required level of availability and performance through pro-active service assurance.
Restore domain infrastructure to normal service in a timely, safe and effective manner.
Support project implementation by assisting project teams to deliver all operational requirements, ensuring all deliverables are operationally supportable and raise risks where they are not.
You will be responsible for developing pro-active service improvements to ensure systems and service provide the best possible availability at all times and ensure compliance to regulatory standards.
Operate in a courteous and professional approach to provide a 1st class service to our customers at all times. 
Most of the work will be on a business as usual (standard hours) basis working to strict Service Level Agreements. You will eventually be required (once trained) to be part of a 24/7 on call rota, supporting the IN and Real Time Rating network, 365 days a year, providing the technical input, direction and resolution to high priority fault situations.

What’s needed?

To be successful in the role you will have good problem solving and analytical skills in order to identify faults and diagnose network issues. You will have the ability to remain calm under pressure, have strong communication skills, with the ability to network and influence other areas of the business.

The following Technical Knowledge would be advantageous:
  • Good knowledge of Real Time Rating systems and /or Intelligent Networking (Nokia Surepay).
  • Some understanding of core switching network (including SIGTRAN and SIP). 
  • Working knowledge of Geoprobe and Wireshark tracing functionality.
  • Experience in analysing Diameter, SIP, SIGTRAN, LDAP protocols.
  • Trained in basic UNIX administration or previous experience of command line operations.
  • Awareness of shell scripting, Python or other programming language.
