The Role This role is within Vodafone Business Product & Solutions, Unified Comms and Connectivity Practice. The successful candidate will work closely with Group Product Management to take new products to market. He or she will provide technical consultancy to identify and qualify new concepts before translating requirements into design and delivery. The role is highly interactive and requires the ability to work with several internal departments and external partners as well as Group and Local Markets teams.
The Product Engineer will directly contribute to the evolution of connectivity product and services as part of Vodafone’s world class enterprise customer solutions. He or she will be working with a team of architects, technical designers, and other developers to build next generation software defined network solutions. Purpose of the team is to build best in class products and solutions, from Minimum Viable Product to a full product.
The teams role will involve end to end design of products through to delivery, ensuring the process is carried out in the most efficient way, achieving the best fit into the Vodafone networks and IT systems, and taking into account low level platform and infrastructure design as well as end-to-end lifecycle management of products. This will require understanding of networking foundational concepts, learning about different connectivity technologies, fixed and mobile, with a specific focus on more advanced network architecture and technologies, API and programming approaches used for SDN, covering a wide range virtualised and Cloud scenarios. The role will utilise DevOps methodologies to develop components and capabilities as part of an end to end solution following Vodafone common models, practices and adoption of open API standards.
The specific focus of this role within the team is to develop and integrate the existing SDWAN product portfolio into an automated virtual function platform working across customer end points, network PoPs and cloud. You will focus on all aspects of the design, delivery, lifecycle support and automation of these capabilities including the HW, Virtualisation, OS and VNF deployment and lifecycle management
