The Role

Global Cyber Security’s role is to inspire trust and confidence in our customers by enabling secure connectivity.  Our purpose is to proactively protect Vodafone & its customers by reducing the risks posed by security threats to Vodafone’s global technology infrastructure and the sensitive data it holds.

In Cyber Prevent, the Delivery Managers take responsibility for the delivery of Vodafone wide change activities (Epics) prioritised by Cyber Prevent which aim to mitigate or enable mitigation of risk reduction. To deliver committed change activity they work with Cyber Prevent platform teams, vendors and other Vodafone teams, such as Group Technology teams (including Group Data Centre and Office IT), Group Cyber Security teams & globally dispersed local market Cyber Security teams.  Their primary role is to plan, schedule and co-ordinate the work done by these teams to deliver the required outcome.

Agile Delivery Managers may also need to manage traditional waterfall projects from time to time, taking overall responsibility for the successful initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a variety of Cyber Prevent Projects.  Key responsibilities include creating clear and attainable project objectives, building the project requirements, and managing the constraints of cost, time, scope and quality, whilst meeting (and where possible exceeding) the expectations of both internal and external stakeholders.  They must provide continuity at a project level in terms of direction and leadership, from capture of requirements through to final implementation, and ensure that the outcomes are delivered on time and on budget.

Agile Delivery Managers may also need to act as a Scrum Master to Cyber Prevent platform teams. Within the platform team, the Scrum Master is a servant leader and coach for a platform team. They help educate the team in SAFe and ensure that the agreed Agile process is being followed. They also help remove impediments and foster an environment for high-performing team dynamics, continuous flow, and relentless improvement.

Agile Delivery Managers will be required to operate effectively in a complex, dynamic, and constantly changing environment.  Active & compelling engagement of teams and internal and external to Vodafone stakeholders will be crucial in creating the momentum required.  The Delivery Manager role will require effective communicators and collaborators.

With us you will:

  • Own the end to end delivery of Global Cyber Security Epics across Group and Local Market boundaries through active leadership and engagement
  • Ensure that Epics have strong Lean Business Cases, that the outcomes, strategy and plan are clear, and that leading indicators that will be used to track progress are understood
  • Support Epic stakeholders in prioritising and committing to Epic delivery
  • Work with delivery teams to shape, prioritise and schedule the work packages that will deliver the Epic outcomes
  • Maintain strong relationships with delivery team members to facilitate effective delivery
  • Ensure that effective Epic governance and reporting are in place to ensure Epic outcomes are achieved
  • Track and escalate risks, issues and impediments that may impact Epic outcome delivery, and recommend changes to strategy and plan when appropriate to ensure Epic outcomes are delivered
  • Track and report on variance of timescales, budget and work for Epics

Apply if you have:

  •  Proven track record of delivering complex projects, ideally with a security focus, on time and to budget whilst managing quality and scope objectives
  •  Demonstrable experience of managing multiple and complex projects within stated time, cost and quality constraints in a global Telco environment
  •  Proven project and programme management experience using Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  •  PRINCE2, PMP, MAPM, Agile or equivalent qualified

Desired but not essential:

  • Experience working within a SAFe environment, preferably in a servant leader role
  • Experience facilitating team events
  • Experience of coaching teams in Lean-Agile practices and mind-sets
  • Certified SAFe/Scrum Master or other industry recognised agile certifications
  • Experience working in an agile team
  • Jira and confluence
  • Knowledge of endpoint security technologies such as endpoint detection and response, anti-malware, hardening, vulnerability management

During the lockdown, we continued to hire across the globe. We’ve continued to conduct interviews and we’ve continued to welcome new members into our teams. But this time it’s virtual.  Since the start of lockdown our digital journeys have been accelerated. We have welcomed over 345 new joiners in Vodafone Group-UK, alone. Our face-to-face interviews have moved to Skype and although many of our assessments were already online, more focus has gone into upskilling recruiters and improving the virtual assessment experience.  A lot has changed. Not just for our recruiting teams, but for our new joiners as well. Imagine joining a company without physically meeting anyone. Without ever stepping foot in your office. This has been the reality for many employees around the world. As we went into lockdown, we asked our new joiners to document their experience of joining a company virtually. We wanted to hear the truth about their excitement and concern in these uncertain times, and it’s been great to see from their video logs, that the experience has been positive.  This is how we #StayConnected while we #StayHome. In order to accommodate our new virtual lives, all of our new joiners are now invited to a virtual-induction which is spread out over the first week. They receive their IT equipment before day one, with clear guidance on how to set it up, and are involved in a week full of various activities and sessions to help them get started, feel included and get to know Vodafone better. Our employees have been inventing new ways to continue regular work-life, from home. From virtual cafés to surprise birthday cake deliveries. There are some perks to working from home. Like popping to your favourite bakery in between meetings or soaking up some well-needed vitamin D on a beautiful day. In many ways, these uninvited circumstances have brought us together in ways we didn’t expect. We’ve seen virtual yoga sessions, global webinars, we’ve even shifted from cards to videos for birthdays and those leaving us.  We appreciate these times are hard on everyone, but if you are currently looking for a new start, know that our recruitment process is all ready to go, from home. Check out our available opportunities now.  Search Careers
