Service Management: The good, the great and the essentials.

“Service Management can mean different things depending on where you work. Our Business function simply means managing the in-life service experience for our customers to ensure we meet our contractual obligations. In short, our focus is, and always will be, to continually improve the service we provide.

Our role is key to giving our customer a first-class service. We represent their voice and we champion their needs across Vodafone. Our customers rely on us and our services to deliver not only for them, but for their customers too.

We refer to our community as Service Relationship Management as the emphasis for us is on building long lasting relationshipsIf our customers trust us, they will stay with us and continue to invest. It’s an essential part of growth of the business.

We work across public and private sectors and it’s fair to say that no two days are the same. A role within Service Management definitely keeps you on your toes! We provide solutions to many of the UK's critical national infrastructure services; NHS 111, Blue Light services and Central Government – just to name a few. Our range of customers makes the job hugely exciting.

With technology constantly evolving, we’re evolving with it. We’re so much more than simply a mobile phone provider, woffer an incredible range of products and services such as 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud, and contact centres. Now more than ever, it’s an exciting and inspiring time to work for Vodafone.

For me, service management is the perfect fit. Building relationships is one of my key strengths and is something I enjoy. I am driven to provide customers and colleagues the best experience of Vodafone and for customers to view us as their technology partner of choice. I feel very lucky to be part of a team of other likeminded individualsWe all have the same passion for relationships and working hard.

Who we are and how we work is centred on the spirit of Vodafone – our core values and purpose. We want to be a partner of choice, to help connect for a better future. To get there we need to be passionate about improving the lives of not only our customers and colleagues, but the communities we live in.

We recruit individuals from all walks of life. It’s not essential you have telecoms or IT background. Passion for delivering service excellence, being able to form great relationships and being a real team player is ultimately what we’re looking for. If I’m describing attributes that you have, I’d strongly recommend you’d consider a career within Service Management and even more so, a career at Vodafone.”

During the lockdown, we continued to hire across the globe. We’ve continued to conduct interviews and we’ve continued to welcome new members into our teams. But this time it’s virtual.  Since the start of lockdown our digital journeys have been accelerated. We have welcomed over 345 new joiners in Vodafone Group-UK, alone. Our face-to-face interviews have moved to Skype and although many of our assessments were already online, more focus has gone into upskilling recruiters and improving the virtual assessment experience.  A lot has changed. Not just for our recruiting teams, but for our new joiners as well. Imagine joining a company without physically meeting anyone. Without ever stepping foot in your office. This has been the reality for many employees around the world. As we went into lockdown, we asked our new joiners to document their experience of joining a company virtually. We wanted to hear the truth about their excitement and concern in these uncertain times, and it’s been great to see from their video logs, that the experience has been positive.  This is how we #StayConnected while we #StayHome. In order to accommodate our new virtual lives, all of our new joiners are now invited to a virtual-induction which is spread out over the first week. They receive their IT equipment before day one, with clear guidance on how to set it up, and are involved in a week full of various activities and sessions to help them get started, feel included and get to know Vodafone better. Our employees have been inventing new ways to continue regular work-life, from home. From virtual cafés to surprise birthday cake deliveries. There are some perks to working from home. Like popping to your favourite bakery in between meetings or soaking up some well-needed vitamin D on a beautiful day. In many ways, these uninvited circumstances have brought us together in ways we didn’t expect. We’ve seen virtual yoga sessions, global webinars, we’ve even shifted from cards to videos for birthdays and those leaving us.  We appreciate these times are hard on everyone, but if you are currently looking for a new start, know that our recruitment process is all ready to go, from home. Check out our available opportunities now.  Search Careers

"Hi, I’m Andi Soric and I head up the London Acquisition Team within Vodafone Regional Business!  Vodafone Business is one of the most recognised B2B technology organisations in the UK, and I’m lucky enough to work in one of its fastest-growing markets, London. My role includes consulting and managing the growth of some of the world’s most known brands and organisations. The demand, especially within the technology, professional services, and the commerce space, in London means there’s so much a variety of opportunities. Alongside that, as London’s regional business team grows, there is a great opportunity to grow with it, and since I’ve been here we have had the pleasure of promoting almost 50% of the workforce into more senior, targeted specific sales roles. Despite everything going on at the moment, we haven’t stopped our training and development but moved our office based academy training sessions to online coaching and deal clinics! This is where we review deals, construct role-play conversations, and prepare detailed pre-meeting plans to ensure our teams are as prepped as possible. We deliver this learning environment with a key focus on creating a feedback hungry environment, which means individuals proactively gain an awareness of what they’re doing brilliantly, but also what they can improve. Apart from the odd weekly quiz (despite being slightly quizzed), we hold weekly sessions where individuals in the team can share best practice, share success stories whilst learning about different products and areas around the business.   For our new starters, we have a ‘buddy scheme’ whereby we allocate a team mate to have regular catch ups with the new member! We’ve found this helps the new joiner gain a quicker and more detailed insight into the business. We’ve also widened this community and have a monthly “new starter” call where joiners can meet other colleagues who are new too. It’s a platform to share insight, network and support one another. It’s a great initiative which we have had great feedback on”.  Search Jobs

Vodafone is much more than a telecommunications company, it’s a family that provides services worldwide across 172 countries.  by Dessislava Bratinova Hello, my name is Dessi and I’m a Technical Sales Apprentice. Background- After finishing A levels, I was unsure of whether to pursue a degree by taking out a loan and study or do an apprenticeship where I can earn while I learn. Vodafone offers extensive apprenticeship opportunities and sales seemed the best fit for me. The entry process consisted of an online interview and an assessment center in Vodafone HQ, with a team activity and individual presentation. From day one everyone was really helpful and encouraging. My time at Vodafone- During my three months so far at Vodafone I have seen how people can be collaborative and supportive in such a large company. I have also learned how to be independent and get used to the corporate workplace, how to build up soft skills and networking. Best of all I have learned to be adaptive and flexible. Alongside the Vodafone sales teams, as part of the YFYA (Your Future, Your Ambition) event in October I was given the opportunity to help inspire young individuals on future jobs and careers they want to pursue. Culture of Vodafone- Vodafone is a company that treats all its employees equally. There is an active LGBT + friend’s community in our online platforms. Additionally, there are educational programs that take place regularly. Vodafone workplace is flexible and people can work anywhere as long as there is an internet connection. For the sales teams this is very important as we can travel to the customers and be more flexible with our working. Exciting projects I’ve been involved with- I was given the opportunity to attended the press release event for IoT (Internet of Things) and it was astounding. The UK’s first 5G holographic call was held there. Alongside was a showcase of new technologies, such as smart home, smart mirrors and other SIM connected solutions.I was invited to work alongside the Marsh &McLennan (MMC) team. It has been exciting since MMC is one of the world’s biggest brokers for insurance companies. I also visited their site opposite the Tower of London where we had the opportunity to discuss current services and present new opportunities like IoT. Outside the job role- Outside of work I continue to play tennis and work towards my CCNA accreditation. I also have a massive passion towards traveling and love to incorporate volunteering alongside. Vodafone is much more than a telecommunications company, it’s a family that provides services worldwide across 172 countries. As well as mobile solutions Vodafone offers network designs and IT infrastructure support, maintenance and development.
