Meet Ricardo Giorgi: A Real global view on security
"This makes me wake up every day to look for the next challenge, the new ways of doing things better, faster and simpler whilst making sure we make our infrastructure safer to our customers and employees".

After several years working for a global security company, I joined the Vodafone Group Cyber Defence team. Before I did this transition I had no idea of the breadth and the experiences that it would give me.
For starters, we have an ongoing project to join the security feeds from across all the Vodafone entities and have a really global view of what is going on across the world (Vodafone footprint is impressive on that regard). This is something that, as security specialist, you have very limited opportunities to experience, especially considering that you have real world data with real things going on. You can then observe patterns, trends and have all those “big picture” conversations – because you actually have the big picture!
Moreover, in the Group Cyber Defence Team we are really a centre of excellence where you have people from different backgrounds and different specialties ranging from large scale security infrastructure (how to run really big firewalls, to say the least) to finding needles in the haystacks while analysing a malware, passing through experts in digging out information from the darkest corners of the web or correlating events coming from different sources to identify potential attacks against Vodafone.
This gives me a lot of opportunities to learn, grow and, why not, play around in a field where you work daily to stay ahead of the “bad guys”.
This makes me wake up every day to look for the next challenge, the new ways of doing things better, faster and simpler whilst making sure we make our infrastructure safer to our customers and employees.
