I’m delighted that for the second consecutive year, Vodafone has been named one of The Times Top 50 Employers for Women. We’re very proud to be selected for this honour, which recognises the efforts of everyone at Vodafone working to foster an environment where we can all be at our best. At Vodafone, we believe that a diverse, inclusive workplace is a strength, and we want to lead by example. Businesses have a key role to play in driving greater gender equality. While we’re proud of the progress we’ve made, we know there is more work to be done. Issues like the under-representation of women in tech and the challenge of finding suitable roles when you’re looking to return to work after a career break can be addressed if we all pull together.
Helping women advance at every stage of their career
Vodafone partners with organisations across government, business and the charity sector to help women advance. Whether you’re starting a new career, balancing work and childcare, or looking to return to work after time away, Vodafone wants to help. Here are some examples of the programmes we support.
For teenage girls interested in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields, we offer:
· Free coding workshops, in partnership with Code First: Girls
· Free one-on-one mentoring and work experience, in partnership with Girls Talk London
For young people interested in starting a career that enables you to learn on the job while achieving a full qualification in the field, we offer a variety of apprenticeships.
For returners – people looking to return to work after a career break – we have a targeted recruitment programme called ReConnect. ReConect builds on our ground-breaking maternity policy – 16 weeks of paid maternity leave across all Vodafone markets throughout the world, which is especially important in countries that lack regulation in this space.
Vodafone aspires to be the world’s best employer for women by 2025. Through our programmes and partnerships, we’re working to help women thrive at every stage of their career.
