I’ve been working at Vodafone since 2000, starting as a Retail Regional Manager in the North West and Midlands. In 2003 I was chosen to work at Vodafone Egypt, in Cairo, which was an amazing experience. Having the opportunity to work within the same company in two different countries really expands your knowledge of the business and the way it operates. Being out there was the best six months of my life as I met some amazing people, learned a new language and had the chance to fully immerse myself within another culture. The whole experience was a very exciting one, and I’d recommend that people choose to pursue any international opportunities that may be offered to them. Not only is it a brilliant way to explore the world, it also teaches you a lot and allows you to offer your personal skills to a brand new team of people. It’s something that enriches both your career and your life. Vodafone is a company with countless opportunities for employees, whether that’s international or closer to home. Prior to my time working in Egypt, I was voted as Regional Manager of the Year by my peers which was a huge honour and it was nice to. If you have the skills, drive and passion, it doesn’t go unnoticed. The training is brilliant too, as you get to own 80% of your personal development, and line managers are happy to work closely with you and give you the support you need. When I was relocating to a new office, Vodafone helped with the relocation package and I was able to take a little time off to help my family settle in and find a new school for my children. You never feel like you have to handle anything on your own and there’s always support available for whatever you need. A successful person at Vodafone needs to be customer focused, have both a can-do and will-do attitude, and happy to work collaboratively. Days are usually varied and you have to be comfortable in a fast paced environment, but with friendly and supportive staff around you, it becomes a lot more manageable. I would recommend Vodafone to anyone who’s looking for a career that’s both challenging and rewarding. The people I work with inspire me every day, and everyone always makes the effort to talk to you in person. It’s a friendly environment that welcomes a variety of people, and encourages everyone to be the best they can be. Are you looking for a career that’ll take you places? Explore our opportunities!.
